I met Stephane at Indie Untangled 2023 and was so excited to have an opportunity to chat with her and her mom. It was so fun and of course I did some shopping and came home with just beautiful bright colors and stunning pastels. While at the show and walkimg around I just knew I wanted Verse Yarns to be a part of this year's Maker's Box and when I approached Stephanie about teaming up together I was thrilled when she said yes!
Then I received her yarn for the Summer Box and was blown away...it was just so perfect! Bright, fun and her colorway name was perfection! Petal to the Kettle! 🧡💙🧡💙
Here is a little about Stephanie and her passion behind dyeing her gorgeous colorways!
Â
1.     Would you share how you got started dyeing yarn?Â
I wanted to make my gift knits extra special one year by creating them from yarn I dyed myself and the rest, as they say, is history! I just kept dyeing from there.Â
2. Where do you find your inspiration for your color ways? And how do you name them?
My inspiration comes from life’s sentimental moments. I try to name them by the moment or the new inspiration they create.Â
3. Would you share a bit about the bases you offer?Â
I enjoy working with different types of bases as they each have a unique expression of colorways so you will often find a range of fibers offered.Â
4. If you could only use 1 of your bases for the rest of your life in your future projects, which would it be and why?
It is SO hard to choose because I love them all. If I had to choose, it would be a non-superwash base because it’s a longer dye process and closer to the homestead experience!
5. Can you share what’s coming for Verse Yarns for 2nd half of 2024? Â
Can you believe we are here already!? Definitely planning out 2025 and beyond–there are some personal projects I’ve wanted to do for a very long time and I can’t wait to dive into them!Â
6. When dyeing yarn, do you like it quiet, or must you always have noise? If the latter, what’s your preference?Â
I like to listen to music or catch up on podcasts if I’m making a repeat batch, but for creative time I enjoy a quiet space as I like to connect with the colorway and immerse myself in the experience.Â
7. Knit or Crochet?
Knit (another hard choice!)Â
8. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
For my ends to automatically weave themselves in upon cast off. Poof— be gone. Lol!
9. Anything else you wish to share
Slow down and take everything one stitch at a time.Â
