Special Gift Ideas for Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the amazing women who have played a significant role in our lives. Some of my friends are currently knitting beautiful projects for the mom's they adore and I know others who are on the hunt for a special something to show in a unique way how much they mean to us. So whether you’re a mom who loves to knit or a knitter with a mom to spoil, here are some fun Mother's Day Gift Ideas to show your love and appreciation.

Gifts to Knit or Crochet for those Special Women

A few quick 1-2 skein patterns you can gift with the yarn or make yourself to gift...

Weathered Cowl - This is so pretty knit up with a soft solid or neutral yarn or even in a lovely variegated option. If you wish to gift it with the yarn it was designed in, my friend Kimberly also has this available in her shop.

Triangle Shawlette - This new shawlette from Ambah O'Brien can be knit in so many different options whether in one color, striped, or colorblocked. Perfect for these spring to summer transition too. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/triagonal-shawlette

Hazel Shorties - For me shortie socks make a fabulous quick gift and handmade socks always say love! Easy to use up leftovers or make a couple pair from a sock set. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hazel-shorties

Silent Mode Scarf - A darling crochet scarf that will use up to 2 skeins of yarn but so quick to made and gorgeous in a solid, tonal, or variegated. Grab a cotton and wool blend for summer to make this wearable piece. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/silent-mode-scarf

For the Special Women in your Life Who Love to Make

As a maker, I feel like we can never have too many tools and notions. Often we may have multiple projects in the works and it doesn't hurt to have a few extra tools. Here are some of my favorites I have multiples in rotation.

Maker's Board - This is one accessory that can do a lot! Made with washable kraft fabric, there are internal metal sheets that make every surface magnetic. You can stick a chart on one surface, your pattern on another, and when you prop one side up for display, the angle is completely adjustable, making it even more versatile. More details found at the links:

Notions Pouch - A crafters tool kit can become a very messy place. With so many notions to contend with, finding exactly what you need can be a time consuming process. Keep your tools organized with the Notions Pouch. This gorgeously soft leather pouch is exactly what you need to contain all your tools & notions. PS...NEW colors will be coming in the next week or so to the shop!

Flox Tool - Flox are THE magic tool! This multitool is something every maker needs in their bag! Use as a cable needle, to hold a dropped stitch, to mark your place, as a stitch markers, and anything else you can think of!

Baby Bow Snips - These are my absolute favorite travel snips and I do find myself using them every day. They are small, easy to keep in your notions pouch and just about 3" in size. Perfect for snipping your thread or yarn tails. Sharp as an arrow and seriously desirable.

Right Side/Wrong Side Progress Keepers - These handy sheep progress keeper are here to the rescue! Marked “RS” for right side and “WS” for wrong side, this little fellow keeps you on track as you’re working on sweaters, socks, cowls and more; simply pin the head to the front side of your knitting project and the flouffy end to the reverse side and avoid those pesky mishaps caused by complex or interrupted projects.

And...Some non-making Ideas to treat Yourself and the Special Women in your Life

Pura - This has become a new personal favorite of mine and I have these installed at work and home. There are some special Mother's Day deals right now. I love how you can manage it from your phone, set timers, adjust the intensity, and mix & match scents.

Osea Anti-Aging Body Balm - I use this every day and love the scent as well as the results. It helps to firm, smooth and deeply hydrate our skin and is a clean product. I splurged and have the full size and travel size so I'm never a day without.

Gingiber Tea Towel Club - My friend Stacie designs some of the most stunning tea towels. You can purchase them as beautiful gifts OR join her Tea Towel Club and receive a gorgeous tea towel each month. This makes for a lovely gift idea. Stacie also designs many other beautiful products, cards, prints and more!

Book of the Month - My friend Kimberly of Palmer Yarn Company got me into Book of the Month. I love to read, always have...but my favorite way to read is with a book in my hands. eReaders are great and so are audiobooks, but the magic of turning the pages, feeling the book and pages is just something special. So I joined Book of the Month - you have options to skip if you have too much on your plate, but they recommend books based on your preferences, and have great add-on options and conversations with the authors.

I hope these all prompt some fun ideas for your mom or that special women/person who has been a mother figure in your life...or ideas to save for later! And remember...sometimes the best gift we can give is our time. Enjoy some dedicated time on the phone with a call, or plan a morning or afternoon together for tea, brunch, or a walk through the park. Whatever you choose will create cherished memories for both of you!

Much love to all your amazing mother's, aunts, sisters, and friends!

xo,

Crystal
