This weekend marks the 10 year anniversary for my LYS, Yarnology. Happy Anniversary dear friends! I can’t wait to pop the bubbly and cheers to you virtually this weekend! 🍾🥂
Nine years ago I stepped into this then corner shop and was surrounded by wool, mohair, silk, bags, needles, and beautiful smiles. I signed up for a beginner's knit class with one of the shop owners and well let's just say the rest is history.
In these 9 years I’ve gained a huge stash of yarn, needles, bags, notions and knit everyone in my family something (whether they liked it or not). But the most special to me are the people I’ve met along the way and most especially a dear circle of friends, my ride or die, who without walking into my LYS I don’t know when or if our paths would have ever crossed.
Like many of us, I miss my LYS. It’s been strange not hanging out with my friends and community in the shop’s Living Room. I cannot wait for the day when we can share laughs, tears, and our gorgeous WIPs and FOs together again in person.
A couple months ago, Kelly (one of the shop owners) reached out to me as she had something fun up her sleeves for this weekend which included introducing a gorgeous selection of La Bien Aimee yarns to the shop and pairing them with favorite patterns.
One of these is a Milly's Knit Designs pattern, RU. This beautiful mosaic stitch pattern is paired with the LBA Allure base. Let me tell you, this is the dreamiest yarn EVER!

A little about Allure...it is a light fingering weight comprised of 70% Baby Alpaca, 20% Silk, 10% Cashmere. Each skein is 400 m / 437 yd.
About the pattern RU...this was part of Woolfolk Yarns Wool Elements III that launched earlier this year. RU includes both a hat and cowl instructions in the pattern. With 1 skein of two colors, you can knit a hat and the smallest cowl AND with 2 skeins of two colors, you can knit the largest cowl or a hat and the medium cowl. Lots of options!!

We all have our favorite LYS whether it be in your town, nearby or across the country or world...I am grateful mine is just down the street.
